Penn Mahoning Ambulance Association was formed and incorporated in 1969 with the help of 4 local organizations; Mahoning Valley Vol. Fire Co., the Andreas Vol. Fire Co., The Mahoning Lions, and the West Penn Twp. Lions.
We originated in Carbon County, Pennsylvania, and grew into two more stations in the 1980’s and 1990’s. In our infancy, our coverage area covered multiple townships in Carbon/Schuylkill Counties. Over the years, as the 911 system evolved, our coverage area has changed. In the late 1990’s, the 911 grid was finalized. Our coverage area changed to West Penn Township, 58 square miles. PMAA also provides mutual aid coverage for all surrounding communities. Due to the changes in our coverage areas, PMAA is now a two-ambulance service located in one centrally located station.
